ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

Phek is a district in the South-Eastern part of Nagaland, bounded by Myanmar in the East, Zunheboto and Tuensang districts in the North, district of Ukhrul and Senapati of Manipur State in the South and Kohima district in the West. Earlier it was known as Eastern Angami which was part of Kohima district. However,a seperate Phek district was decleared on 21st December 1973. It is inhabited by mostly Chakhesang and Pochury tribes with Phek as the District Head Quarter.
          The District Court Phek was established in the year 1973 and initially Office was functioning under DC Office as ADC (Judicial). The first Court Building was constructed in the late 1990s. Then the present new Court Building Complex was constructed and occupied in the month of May 2016. At present there is District and Sessions Court and Judicial Magistrate First Class Court with supporting Staff establishment. The District Sessions Court is also designated as Special Judge NDPS, PC Act, Member, MACT, Human Rights Court, President District Redressal Consumer Forum and Principal Judge Family Court Phek.
